About Me
I’ve decided that I am going to use as much humour as possible in life. You will know when I’m serious, but in general, most of my posts will lean toward fun.
Currently a jetpacker in cahoots with bacon, ninjas, pirates and zombies. All in good fun.

I am full of trival information (as well as other things). I have a very strong and dry sense of humour. I’m happily married with 2 daughters (one cat and a dog) and one sone (cat). Bit of an animal sucker. I work with computers. I’ve got my views on things but will respect yours as long as you respect mine. You will usually get an answer from me that includes humour. Life is a bear, and you just have to make it a teddy bear.
I have taken life by the naughty bits and given it a good twist. I have swam with wild dolphins, been shot, seen whales breaching, have a great garden, lived in a snow cave, hiked through jungles (too many times), taken a “shower” by standing in a monsoon, bottle fed a day old kitten and all sorts of other interesting things.
I like good food! I like to cook good food! My wife likes that I can cook good food! We like fun stuff!

So I am taking a bit a a rest. I’ll be off and on until mid July than I will “poof” be gone for about three weeks. Think of it as a much needed sanity check. I’ll be back as snarky as ever. But hopefully much more focused as centered. Thank you all for your fun and support, and I look forward to this break. I also look forward to getting back and sharing more laughs and life perspectives.
About me
I was born in Ohio, and raised in Minnesota. That was too cold, so I joined the Army and spent four years in California. I moved to Seattle in 1990 and life has never been happier.
Why I am so happy . . .
I married the most wonderful woman in the world, SUZANNE. She is smart, funny, and beautiful. We have a great home in Seattle. And we have a dog, Fiona, and lots of cats (Lassie, Dieter, Elaine).
What I like . . .
Computers - It’s a hobby, it’s a job, it’s a hobby AND a job! I’ve been working (and playing) with computers (Intel, MAC, Commadore, DEC Alpha, etc.) since 1983 - professionally since 1990.
I’ve done the tech thing, the break-fix thing, the Sys Admin thing, the Systems Engineering thing, the Storage Architecture thing, and instruction in all of the above.
Animals - My wife and I have a number of pets. They are our children. We also foster kittens and cats for the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
Cooking / Food - My wife and I have been vegetarians since 1992. Our motto is “we don’t eat things with faces”. I like to cook. I have a great kitchen and I use it.
Travel - We love to travel. And when we travel, we have adventures. Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Holland, and our favorite…Scotland. We even went to Canada! Wow!
Places I’ve worked . . .
Enom- I started as a consultant, and was hired as a Storage Engineer (later Architect). I traveled quite a bit (over 50% of the time). I am now happily pursuing new employment opportunities that will let me see my family once in a while.
Avnet - A value-added distributor of enterprise servers, storage, software and services. I was a Technology Consultant specializing in Enterprise Storage Architecture.
BCG - Basker Computer Group, a Classic Digital VAR (now an HPaq Enterprise Reseller). I was a Systems Engineer.
HBSI - A Health Care Benchmarking company. I was the Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator.
Digital Equipment Corp. - You knew them, you loved them. Now they are Compaq Hewlett-Packard. I was a Field Service Engineer in Seattle.
Unitek (now Apropos Retail) - A Point of Sale Software Company in the Seattle area.
Analytical Resources, Inc. - An environmental testing lab in Seattle. I was the in-house computer guy.
